Fundraising Latest...

Outlined below are our current fundraising goals that are at present becoming neccessities for Ryan and are high on the priorities list.

Travel Hoist

At home Ryan has the a specialised ceiling mounted hoist system that allows him to more easily transfer into various wheelchairs for showering. However, at various locations abroad this isn't always a possibility and when travel space is limited it is difficult to take a portable hoist.

There are however specialised travel hoists available that fold down into an easily transportable package especially for going abroad. Purchasing one of these hoists is now becoming a neccessity to Ryan as he is now going abroad more frequently. It is detrimental to his health and well being if he cannot be afforded the luxury of at least one shower per week if he is abroad and so the purchase of a travel hoist (circa £2000) is now essential.

So far we have had a donation of £1700 fromThe Rosslyn Park Injury Trust towards the travel hoist.

Travel Shower Wheelchair

Along with the hositing Ryan uses a special water reppellent shower chair when taking a shower. His current chair is not collapsible and again with all of his shooting equipment being shipped abroad there is often not enough room for extra essentials.

The purchase of a collapsible shower chair (circa £1500) will again help Ryan to have a much needed shower when abroad on shooting duties.

e-motion Wheels

Ryan is also keen on getting some e-motion powered wheelchair wheels. The e·motion power assisted wheels will allow Ryan to keep his level of active mobility when pushing his chair whilst still maintaining the training effect from manual pushing. The e-motion wheels are a kind of hybrid wheel that merge battery power with analogue pushing. Ryan will be able to push his chair as normal but when requried the e-motion wheels add that little bit extra to get him where he wants to be. They are a great benefit to wheelchair users with impaired strength and range of motion.

Ryan will have a better chance of staying mobile without the need of a fully electronic chair but will be able to attain that little bit of extra assistance when pushing his chair manually over uneven terrain which will make an important contribution to its owner’s independence.
